Summer 1953 Alumnae Quarterly:
"Our son, in Prague, may be relieved and sent back to the States, and all our summer plans hinge on his return. His two year term is over in May but he must await his replacement. I shall be thinking of you and wishing you a happy and successful reunion."
Spring 1955 Alumnae Quarterly:
"I only wish I had something interesting to tell about myself. But I live in a humdrum sort of life: some club work and the many activities of the social agencies sponsored by the Episcopal Church here in Chicago. Of course my main interest is in my 9 grandchildren, 3 in Phoenix, Ariz., 1 in Washington, D.C., and 5 in Winnetka, a north shore suburb, where we can see them frequently, thank goodness. My husband is still working and has to be away from home a great deal; whenever he drives, I go with him. I think fondly of my college days and am always glad to get Goucher news, especially of 1903."
Fall 1955 Alumnae Quarterly:
IN MEMORIAM
We grieve over the loss of a friend and most loyal classmate in the death of Laura Hutchins Brown, a devoted wife and mother and earnest church and community worker. The Episcopal Church to which she belonged will greatly miss her generous gift of time and energy but her loss will perhaps be most sorely felt by the Chase Nursery School, which was so close to her heart and which grew and flowered under her tender care. The bond between Laura and GOucher and our class was close and strong, making her alert to the developments in the educational world. She was a member of the Chicago College Club for a long time. The good that she did will surely live after her, as well as the memory of a friendly, useful, and unselfish life. We send our sympathy to her family and to her many friends.-Eda Briggs Frost
Spring 1956 Alumnae Quarterly:
Linas Brown, the son of Laura Hutchins Brown, was in Washington early in February, and found time to call on me. We talked of the many happy memories of his mother's life that still lve with her family and friends, of her affection for Goucher, her study of music in Europe after her graduation, and her continuing interest in it, and her devotion to the Chase House Nursery School that took much of her time. He gave me a copy of a prayer that she and the family used - a truly humble prayer that would sweeten the heart of anyone who offered it up sincerely. I felt that I had had a happy visit with Laura herself, in recalling so many pleasant things about her.
