Summer 1956 Alumnae Quarterly:
My other letter was from Mary Taylor Renold's daughter, Margaretta. She is such a busy person that I appreciated her words about her mother, whose health remains about the same.
Spring 1957 Alumnae Quarterly:
Another letter from one of the next generation is gladly passed on to you. Margaretta Reynolds writes. "I am always delighted to hear from you and would like very much to hear from any of MOther's friends, for you know they will always have a place in my heart. Please send them all my very best wishes. I read all the news items in the Quarterly with great interest in order to keep up with them.
I still have some pictures of the 'girls' that I plan to send to them some day. Maybe on my vacation this year there will be time. On a plane recently, I bumped into a friend whom I seldom see, -another daughter of Goucher,- and we told each other of our admiration of the Goucher graduates. Quite frequently I go to Keller Hall at Westhampton College here, and as I walk in I straighten my shoulders a bit in pride and respect for the Goucher graduate for whom the hall was named."
Fall 1957 Alumnae Quarterly:
I began with the happy news of Thyra's marriage, but I must close with the sad news of the death of one of our best known, and best loved members. Mary Taylor Renolds died after a long illness on June 17. It is hard to think of her "blithe spirit" no longer with us, but I like to believe that she will bring joy to those shejoins as she always did while she was here.
Fall 1957 Alumnae Quarterly:
IN MEMORIAM
Sadness, mingled with happy memories, came to us when we heard of the death of Mary Taylor Reynolds.
Small, dainty, and vivacious, Mary was like a Southern breeze blown in from Demopolis, Alabama. She was joyful, cheerful, witty; then suddenly would express deep, philosophic thoughts, or again be the alert, tactful politician.
In June 1907 she married Hughes T. Reynolds. For a while they lived in Long Beach, Miss., then moved to Rome, Ga., where she spent most of her life. Here she was an active member in all community affairs. She was the first woman appointed to the Board of Education, and served 12 years.
She faced many obstacles in her life, but surmounted them by working and helping others. When financial reverses in 1930 made it necessary for her to go out and work, she took a graduate library course at the University of Georgia, and held positions as librarian in different schools. The last past of her life she lived with her daughter in Richmond, where she was a librarian at St. Catherine's School.
She was in ill health for a long period, and hospitalized for several years. She died on June 17, 1957, and was buried in Rome, Ga.
Mary is survived by a son, John H. Reynolds, 3rd. who is quality engineer for Celanese Corporatopm of America, his wife and 3 children. She also leaves a daughter, Margaretta Reynolds Neuman, who lives in Richmond, and is associate professor in a graduate school of social work. To Mary's family the class of 1903 extends its sympathy. -Nancy Nulton Larrick

A note from Margaretta Reynolds Neuman, Mary Tayler Renolds' daughter inclosed a snapshot of her and her husband's son, -a handsome lad, looking well pleased with a new Easter hat and his new "mommie." She sends her best wishes to all of her mother's Goucher friends and thanks for news of our reunion.
