THE PASSANO COLLECTION -- COLOPHON

The print version of this guide was published in an edition of five hundred copies.   The text was prepared by Patricia Bull of the Julia Rogers Library and printed by Michael Ahrenberg of Goucher College.  The typeface is Palatino.  The title quotation is from Memoirs of a Southern Woman "Within the Lines" by Mary Jones Polk Branch.  The ornamental initials on the cover and on pages one and three are from The Woman in Battle: A Narrative of the Exploits, Adventures, and Travels of Madame Loreta Jeneta Valazquez, Otherwise Known as Lieutenant Harry T. Buford, Confederate States Army, as are the illustrations on page nine and fourteen.  Other illustrations are as follows: page four is from The South: A Tour of its Battle-fields and Ruined Cities, a Journey Through the Desolated States and Talks with People by J.T. Trowbridge, page five is from The Journal of Julia LeGrand New Orleans 1862-1863, page ten is from Official Records of the Union and Confederate Navies in the War of the Rebellion.
