Summer Writing Fellowships
The Kratz Center for Creative Writing will offer writing fellowships for the summer of 2008. Qualified sophomores, juniors, and seniors at Goucher who have taken a 200 and 300-level writing workshop are invited to apply for the awards, which will range from $1000.00 to $2500.00 The fellowships will fund worthy projects falling within the following areas.
1. Travel and research projects connected to and culminating in a work of fiction, a group of poems, or a work of creative nonfiction.
2. A writing-related internship, at (for example) a literary magazine or book publisher.
3. Attendance of a summer writers' conference.
Applicants
should submit 2 copies of a one or two-page proposal describing the
project, an estimate of expenses, and a sample of the work in the genre of the
proposal to the appropriate Kratz administrator at the end of 2008/2009. (Further
details will be announced.)

Successful applicants will be notified by the end of March. In the case of internships, conferences and any other projects involving outside organizations, letters of confirmation must be submitted before Summer Fellowship funds are released.
Summer Fellowship recipients are required to submit a letter describing their activity during the fellowship period, along with copies of any related creative writing projects, to the Director of the Kratz Center, not later than the second week of classes in the Fall Semester following the fellowship period.
